Sections are predefined HTML content blocks that you can use to tailor the content of letters and emails to the specific needs of your customer. They serve as an addition to content suggestions. While content suggestions are especially useful for plain texts, can sections also be used to include HTML.
Setup
Templates
In order to create a new section, it makes sense to first make sure sections can actually be used. To do so, sections need to be added to templates:
- Go to Settings - Communication - Templates
- Open a template
- Navigate to the position where the section later should be inserted (ideally before or after the content suggestion, but any position is possible)
- Click "Insert merge field" in the top right corner of the editor. Then click "Template" and "Sections":
- The sections tag is now added to the template:
- Save template
Repeat this for all templates that should include sections.
Sections
- Go to Settings - Communication - Sections
- Click "Create"
- Add a name and description
- You can upload a picture (This is for easier identification only and will not be included in the actual content of the section.)
- Select email or letter (Do you want this section to be available for emails or letters?)
- Optional: Select templates, if you want this section to only be available for specific templates. If you do not add any, it will be available to all templates. NOTE: The section will generally not be available for templates, that do not have a "sections" tag
- Optional: Specify Relations Path, if you want this section to only be available for specific relations paths. If you do not add any, it will be available for all.
- Now you can add the content. It is up to you if you add simple text or HTML
- Preview: Choose a template to see how the section will look like when used
- Save
Now your section is ready for use in a correspondance, provided that the relations path and template used allow for this section to be used.
How to use
- Create an email activity
- Select a template
- The "Add sections" component appears
Troubleshooting
The "Add sections" component is not shown on email activity creation:
- The chosen template does not contain a {sections} tag. Here you can read on how to edit templates and add tags
- The relations path of the case is explicitly left out on this specific section
The needed template is not available:
- The templates: (or Layouts) available are dependent on the settings of the selected content suggestion. It is possible to add one or more templates to a content suggestion, and if that is the case, only those templates will be listed under "Layouts"
